Veterinary nurses are a vital part of the veterinary team, particularly within the emergency and critical care (ECC) setting. Opportunities for professional development are ever increasing. EVECC Congress each year has a specific Nurse & Tech stream. Some additional opportunities are found below.

The Academy of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Technicians and Nurses (AVECCTN) was developed to advance clinical skills and knowledge of nurses and technicians working within emergency and critical care. Nurses and technicians who successfully meet the credential requirements and pass the AVECCTN examination are designated as Veterinary Technician Specialists (Emergency & Critical Care). Despite being founded in North America, nurses and technicians working outside of North America are eligible to work toward this qualification with a number of individuals working in Europe having successfully obtained this qualification. Please see their website for further information.
