Welcome to the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
Founded in 2014, our mission is to promote and develop the young and dynamic specialty of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine (ECC) throughout Europe. This includes maintaining a list of European Specialists in Veterinary ECC and overseeing post-graduate training programmes.
Mission
To advance the knowledge and high standards of practice in veterinary emergency and critical care medicine in Europe and increase the competency of those who practise in this veterinary discipline.
Objectives
This mission is achieved by:
-
establishing guidelines for post-graduate education and training as a prerequisite to become a Specialist in the Speciality of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine
-
examining and authenticating veterinarians as Specialists in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine to serve the veterinary patient, its owner and the public in general, by providing expert care for animals requiring emergency or critical care management
-
encouraging research and other contributions to knowledge relating to the pathogenesis, diagnosis, therapy, prevention, and the control of diseases directly or indirectly affecting the emergency and critical care management of all animals, and promoting communication and dissemination of this knowledge.
-
maintaining a register of the practising members of the College so as to inform the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation, EBVS, and thereby allowing these members to represent themselves as European Specialists in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
